Two alumni of the #PennSP2 MSW Program have won Awards for Clinical Excellence presented by the Pennsylvania Society for Clinical Social Work (PSCSW). 🎉

Recipients Katie Fesperman, MSW’24 (Second Prize) and Hannah Smith, MSW’24 (Third Prize) won with papers that began as class assignments for SP2 Lecturer Sarah Trotta. Congratulations, all!

As voters consider 2024 ballots at local, state, and national levels, we’re highlighting the issues that #PennSP2 faculty view as priorities from the perspective of their research. Today, Assistant Professor ChiaKo Hung discusses the relationship between income inequality and philanthropy.

Dr. Hung’s research focuses on nonprofit financial management, social entrepreneurship, philanthropy, fundraising management, and collaborative governance. He received the Emerging Scholars Award from the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action in 2020. See link in bio to learn more.

With a growing focus on climate inequality, #PennSP2 recognizes the climate crisis as a significant social justice issue. Recent University-level grants to SP2 faculty and staff demonstrate the School’s innovative work in this area. SP2 faculty members Dr. Chenyi Ma, Dr. Dennis Culhane, and Dr. Siva Mathiyazhagan are among the 2024-2025 recipients of grants from the Kleinman Center for Energy Policy. The recipients also include Kleinman Center Director Dr. Sanya Carley, who holds a secondary appointment at SP2. In addition, a grant from Penn’s Environmental Innovations Initiative supports a recently launched project led by Founding Executive Director Katherina Rosqueta of SP2’s Center for High Impact Philanthropy.
