Nine SP2 faculty are listed among the Stanford University-Elsevier World’s Top 2% Scientists for the past two years or on the basis of career-long data. The ranking is calculated with data representing academic citations and peer-reviewed journal publications.

A look back at 2024 highlights the School’s excellence in education and research, as well as SP2’s deep commitment to addressing human well-being across multiple dimensions.

Having explored how a World War II population’s trauma narratives are experienced by subsequent generations for her dissertation, Jessica (Jesse) Aldrich Strassman, MSW, LCSW, DSW, is committed to studying expulsion, flight, and migration. As a new graduate of SP2’s DSW Program, she continued pursuing her research interests this summer in Greece.

SP2 announced today that Douglas M. Brooks, MSW, a nationally recognized leader in HIV and health care policy and advocacy, as well as a senior leadership fellow at SP2, will deliver the School’s 2024 Commencement speech on May 18.

This spring, underserved high school students engaged in the National Education Equity Lab will have the opportunity to learn about career paths in social work and social policy from experts at SP2.

With the support of SP2 Dean Sara S. Bachman, simulations were recently expanded beyond the MSW Program’s second-year clinical courses so that they are now also part of the second-year macro practice courses as well as the first-year curriculum. The exercises provide space for students to grow and gain experience outside the parameters of more traditional settings.
