Chiu Yi (Joey) Tan is a social welfare PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) School of Social Policy and Practice and a Penn Center for Cancer Care Innovation Fellow. She earned her BA in Psychology from San Jose State University and her MSW degree from the University of Michigan (UM). Before starting her PhD program, she served as a research coordinator and therapist on various NIH funded clinical trials, focused on addressing substance use behaviors among emerging adults. Additionally, Joey has contributed towards multiple UM and NIH-funded psychosocial oncology research projects centered around Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) cancer survivors. Joey is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Michigan and she has gained over 2 years of clinical experience delivering mental health interventions. Joey’s research interest includes examining the health behaviors of AYA cancer survivors and developing accessible mental health interventions to promote their long-term cancer survivorship outcomes.
