Nonprofits use stories to raise money and share their mission. But sometimes, stories can accidentally send the wrong message, making the nonprofit or donor look like the “hero” instead of focusing on the people and communities being served. This workshop will help students learn how to tell stories that show respect, dignity, and agency, while still connecting with funders and supporters. Through examples and hands-on activities, participants will practice spotting savior narratives and rewriting them into stories that are honest, respectful, and meaningful.
