NPL
MA in Jewish Communal Service
The Master of Science in Nonprofit Leadership (NPL)/MA in Jewish Communal Service is a unique program designed to prepare students for careers in Jewish Communal Service. Students enrolled in the certificate program can earn both a Master of Science in Nonprofit Leadership degree from the University of Pennsylvania and an MA in Jewish Communal Services from Gratz College.
General Course of Study
On its own, the NPL is a ten course unit (CU) degree, consisting of four NPL core CUs, four NPL elective CUs, and two Penn elective CUs. On its own, the MA in Jewish Communal Service is a twelve-course program. When students complete the NPL/MA in Jewish Communal Service certificate program, two Gratz CUs are applied to the NPL program as electives, allowing students to complete both programs together in eighteen CUs. The NPL/MA program may be completed in five semesters. It is recommended that students begin the certificate program at Gratz College during the summer prior to the first semester at the University of Pennsylvania. Students must notify their academic advisors at both Penn and Gratz that they are completing this program, so that their course of study can be planned accordingly.
Finances
Students pay SP2 tuition, and receive any applicable financial aid awards, for eight CUs at the University of Pennsylvania. Students pay Gratz tuition, and receive any applicable financial aid awards, for ten courses at Gratz College.
