    Samaita Jana is a doctoral student at the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy & Practice. Her research interests include mental health in precarious employment, community organization and development processes in the informal sector, and their impact on mental health outcomes in worker populations.

    Prior to joining the PhD program, she worked as a researcher in the field of mental health rights and community mental health. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Bryn Mawr College and a Master’s degree in social work with a concentration in mental health from Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai, India.
