Course Registration
Continuing Students
Master’s and PhD students register for courses using Path@Penn (PennKey and password required). Students in the DSW program will be registered by the SP2 Registrar. Continuing students register for spring and fall classes during the Advance Registration period noted on the SP2 Academic Calendar for each semester.

New/Incoming Students
Registration for incoming SP2 students takes place through Path@Penn (PennKey and password required). If you are unfamiliar with the Path system, instructions as well as information on how to search course offerings can be found here.

PhD in Social Welfare
Incoming PhD in Social Welfare students will be registered for their first semester by the SP2 registrar. Incoming students will be registered for the courses below for Fall 2024.

Advanced Standing

- SWRK 7040: Advanced Clinical Social Work Practice I or SWRK 7080: Advanced Macro Social Work Practice I (note: students will remain in the same section for their spring 2023 practice course)

Students in the clinical concentration must take SWRK 7600: Mental Health Diagnostics as one of their elective courses. Incoming Advanced Standing students are strongly encouraged to enroll in this course during the Fall term. Seats in the spring version of this course are limited.

MS in Social Policy
Incoming MSSP and MSSP+DA students should register for courses utilizing the MSSP course of study and the MSSP+DA course of study.
Students are provided important course registration information on the MSSP Resources Canvas course. Additional questions about course registration should be directed to the student’s academic advisor (once assigned) or msspprogram@sp2.upenn.edu.
MS in Nonprofit Leadership
If you have not already done so, please check in with your academic advisor to discuss your course options for the fall term.
Full-Time/Part-Time
Students are required to take 4 Core NPL Credit Units (CUs), 4 Elective NPL Credit Units, and 2 Outside Elective Credit Units to complete the program.

Accelerated
Students who completed the CSIS, FSI, or NAS executive program must complete six (6) NPL credit units (CUs) at least four (4) CUs of which must be from the core offering.
Students who completed the XSD or DMSI executive programs must complete seven (7) NPL credit units (CUs) at least four (4) CUs of which must be from the core offering.
