MSSP CERTIFICATE PROGRAMSCertificate in Law
The University of Pennsylvania Law School offers a Certificate in Law to students enrolled in a graduate or professional degree program at Penn. The Certificate of Study in Law gives Penn graduate students an opportunity to become immersed in important legal topics in the areas of their academic interest.
Students need a total of four courses towards the certificate; MSSP students may use three of their required courses towards the Certificate:
- LAW 5110 (Fulfills an MSSP Elective Course)
- LAW xxxx (Fulfills an MSSP Elective Course)
- MSSP 6310: Law & Social Policy (students petition the Law School to count this course towards the certificate)
The fourth course needed for the certificate is taken at the Law School and is in addition to the 10 credits required for the MSSP degree. Students should, after consulting their academic advisor, complete the fourth course for the Certificate in Law in the Spring semester (taking 5.5 CU instead of 4.5 CU) OR take the fourth course for the Certificate in Law during the summer. Taking a course during the summer may limit students’ internship options to the Philadelphia area. Students pay the SP2 per-course tuition rate and must take the course before graduating from the MSSP program.
For more information, students should contact their academic advisor and visit the Certificate in Law webpage to learn about the requirements and the registration process.
