Sam is an Active Duty LCSW in the United States Navy, previously stationed in Okinawa, Japan and currently working in Camp Lejeune’s Naval Hospital. His research interests include Positive Psychology, Post-Traumatic Growth, and Moral Injury. Sam has been serving Veteran and Active Duty military populations since 2017, and enjoys using EMDR as a way to process his client’s traumas. He decided to pursue his DSW at the University of Pennsylvania to ensure that his service delivery to those in his care is first-rate, and he has enjoyed learning from the wonderful professors in the program. Additionally, he values the leadership skills imparted by the program, and hopes to use them to make measurable change in access to care policies for veterans in the future. He considers his cohort to be more of a tight-knit family than a group of fellow students, and hopes to continue learning and serving military populations for the rest of his career.
