Caren Kelman, MSW

  • Caren Kelman, LCSW, PMHC is a graduate of the Master of Social Work program at Columbia University. She completed her undergraduate work in human development and family studies at The Pennsylvania State University. Caren is a licensed clinical social worker and certified in perinatal mental health, and has completed additional training in cognitive behavior therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, Brazelton Touchpoints and Circle of Security. Caren specializes in maternal mental health, including Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders, birth trauma, pregnancy grief, loss, and fertility challenges as well as with relationships issues and life transitions. Caren uses strength-based perspective to foster strong parent-child relationships and enjoys working with expectant and new parents who are managing the everyday stresses and adjustments to their parenting role.

    Currently, Caren works as behavioral health specialist within integrated collaborative care program at Penn Medicine OB/GYN Associates. Caren also has served as part-time lecturer at SP2 since 2020. Caren has taught both the Foundations of Social Work Practice and American Racism courses. Caren has also provided support to MSW students as a practicum liaison. She finds joy in orienting students to the profession through making connections with course content and applications in practice.
