
Brooke Bakan, MSEd
Brooke joined SP2 as the Online Nonprofit Leadership Program Coordinator in August 2022. In this role, she supports a variety of initiatives for students, faculty, staff, and community partners. Previously, Brooke created programming for student-parents at Penn’s Family Center and master’s students at Penn’s Graduate School of Education. As an educator, she has supported students of all ages in the U.S. and Turkey, aiming to facilitate learning communities that foster innovative thought and action towards social change. As a researcher, she has explored identity and ideologies in language learning spaces. She is passionate about supporting Kurdish language education and research and advocating for minoritized languages and their users more broadly. Brooke received her MSEd in Intercultural Communication from the Educational Linguistics division at Penn’s Graduate School of Education and her BA in French and Writing from Bennington College.
