MSW/Master of City Planning (MSW/MCP) Program
Philadelphia offers a vibrant and challenging context for students whose passion is to improve the urban environment. Graduates of the Master of Social Work/Master of City Planning (MSW/MCP) dual degree will gain broad knowledge about the interrelation of the physical, social, and economic systems for urban community services; competence in analysis and development of intervention strategies to humanize these services; and the development of a philosophical base for professional practice that instills a commitment to improve the quality of life for people in urban communities.
Students will apply independently to each program through each school’s specified admission process. The blended curriculum covers three years and may include one intervening summer. Students are enrolled in both the School of Social Policy & Practice (SP2) and the Weitzman School of Design(opens in a new tab) and take the required courses in each curriculum. Upon successful completion of the joint program, the student is awarded the degrees of Master of Social Work (MSW) and Master of City Planning (MCP).
