Submatriculation for Penn Undergraduates
Begin your master’s program as an undergraduate. Pursue advanced study in Social Work, Social Policy, or Nonprofit Leadership while completing your bachelor’s degree.
Undergraduate students at the University of Pennsylvania may apply for an accelerated program of master’s degree study by seeking admission to the School of Social Policy & Practice (SP2) as submatriculants. Depending on the SP2 degree program, you may take up to two graduate courses per semester during your junior and senior years.
Interested students must follow the Policies Governing Submatriculation and the Application Process for Submatriculation of the College of Arts & Sciences, which are available on the College’s website(opens in a new tab). Individual programs of study will be determined jointly by College Academic Advisors and the Program Director/Advisor from the appropriate SP2 department.

Choose from three accelerated bachelor’s to master’s programs designed for exceptional Penn undergraduates
Bachelor of Arts/Master of Social Work
Earn your BA and MSW in 5 years of study. Work directly with clients or community-based social service organizations as you advance your education.
Bachelor of Arts/MS in Social Policy
Undertake policy studies starting in your senior year. Complete your MSSP degree in one semester beyond your BA.
Bachelor of Arts/MS in Nonprofit Leadership
Transform and lead in the nonprofit sector. Complete this accelerated program in one semester beyond your BA degree.
