She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare and Economics from Seoul National University, graduating Summa Cum Laude, as well as a Master of Arts in Social Welfare from the same institution. During her doctoral studies, she has received a generous scholarship from the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies.

Her research focuses on the interlocking relationships among recovery, stigma, environmental service infrastructures, self-decision making, and human rights. Through her work, she aspires to contribute to a more comprehensive and compassionate understanding of these critical aspects.
