As part of #PennSP2`s Center for Public Service & Policy led by former Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter, a survey will arrive in approximately 24,000 randomly selected city mailboxes between late September and December of this year.

Sent by the Center`s Philadelphia Economic Equity Project (PEEP), the survey is designed to explore the economic and social challenges that Philadelphians face and to identify ways in which Philadelphians are economically mobile.

“With this survey, we’re inviting a group of Philadelphia residents to tell us about their experiences over the next 36 months,” said Candice Dias, PhD, PEEP project director. “It’s the first stage of our journey to understand the challenges of Philadelphians who face economic instability and to learn from them about what works to achieve stability. We don’t want to guess about what works, we want to hear directly from Philadelphians.”

It’s Climate Week at @uofpenn! This week, events across campus will highlight the many ways the Penn community is working to understand and combat the climate crisis. 🌎 🌱

At #PennSP2, climate inequality is a growing area of focus. The climate crisis is a significant social justice issue, brought on by structural oppression, resulting in human vulnerabilities and inequities.

Meet three SP2 faculty members committed to addressing climate justice:

🔵 Assistant Professor Dr. R. Jisung Park
Dr. Park is an environmental and labor economist interested broadly in how environmental factors shape economic opportunity.

🔵 Assistant Professor Dr. Alice Xu
Dr. Xu studies the comparative political economy of development with a focus on the politics of inequality and social policy, urban and distributive politics, and environmental politics in the Global South.

🔵 Research Assistant Professor Dr. Chenyi Ma
Dr. Ma’s research aims to contribute to interdisciplinary knowledge of disaster risk reduction and sustainable development.

Today, Dean Bachman joined health leaders at Penn to discuss the critical challenges arising from the impact of #ClimateChange on human well-being. Deans across the University provided insight into the ways in which climate is felt in their discipline and how they are addressing it across their education, research, and clinical missions.
