SUMMARY:4th Annual Art@SP2 Exhibit: Practice & Possibility
DESCRIPTION:Practice & Possibility is a participatory art exhibition that centers the lived experiences shaping our commitments to social policy and practice at SP2. Featuring photography and artwork from students\, faculty\, and staff\, the exhibition invites artists to respond to two prompts: “What I Carry” (The Catalyst)\, the moments\, communities\, or experiences that inform their work\, and “What I Hope to Shift” (The Possibility)\, the change they are working toward. \n\nJoin us for an opening reception with dialogue\, connection\, and live performances as we engage with the stories that inspire action and imagine new possibilities. Open to the Penn community. Light refreshments will be served.

SUMMARY:MSSP/NPL Lunch & Learn -- Intergenerational Collaboration to Promote Multilateralism in Evolving International Policy and Project Landscape
DESCRIPTION:The Workshop on “Intergenerational Collaboration to Promote Multilateralism in Evolving International Policy and Project Landscape” aims to discuss the evolving landscape and potential futures of international development shaped by UN80 reports and transformations as well as Member States engagements. As we have marched over 2/3 of our way towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) yet the progress is not close to 2/3 of the expected outcomes\, there is greater emphasis on multilateralism and the broader topic on “how we can work together” as one world\, among different stakeholders\, and representing different sectoral interests at both policy and project levels. Hope this Workshop can bring inspirations to everyone.

SUMMARY:AI Workflows for Social Impact: A Human-Centered\, Hands-On Guide
DESCRIPTION:About the talk 💻 AI tools are everywhere\, but many social impact teams struggle to move from interest to real implementation. This session focuses on how to build your first practical AI workflow – starting with the problem you’re trying to solve\, not the tool itself. Using real examples from social impact organizations\, we’ll walk through how to identify the right processes to automate and how to build lightweight workflows with accessible tools and limited resources. The goal is not to replace people\, but to reduce repetitive work so teams can focus on relationships\, decision-making\, and impact. Participants will leave with a practical\, human-centered framework they can apply immediately to increase impact. \nSpeakers Bio 💭 Ibrahim has always been fascinated by the intersection of tech and society. This curiosity led him to study Computer Science at University of Pennsylvania\, where he laid the foundation for his technical expertise in software engineering and algorithms. But Ibrahim was more interested in the applications of tech than in the 1s and 0s\, so he continued his Master’s in Systems Engineering\, diving deep into complex systems design and human-centered design. This taught him how to think holistically about how technology integrates with human behavior and organizational needs. \nAfter graduation\, Ibrahim joined the PwC consulting practice\, where he spent several years helping Fortune 100 companies navigate digital transformation and business process optimization. He gradually shifted to the impact space\, where he led a new social innovation initiative and took on product management roles. \nSeeking a global perspective on business and innovation\, Ibrahim earned his MBA from INSEAD in France and Singapore. This experience opened his eyes to different cultural approaches to problem-solving and reinforced his belief that the best solutions come from diverse perspectives. Throughout this journey\, Ibrahim continuously invested in understanding human behavior and change. He became a certified Tiny Habits Coach through BJ Fogg’s program at Stanford\, earned User Experience and Cultural Ethnography certifications\, and deepened his understanding of how people actually adopt and use technology in their daily lives. \nOver the past 8 years\, Ibrahim has had the privilege of launching his own startups and social ventures\, working with startups\, established companies\, and everything in between. Today\, he splits his time between building Ruminado\, launching more products\, and writing about the future of work and technology. Ibrahim is always excited to explore new challenges and collaborate with people who share a passion for building meaningful things.

SUMMARY:NPL Lunch & Learn – Climate Justice as a Social Impact Imperative
DESCRIPTION:Climate change is not only an environmental issue—it is a profound social justice challenge that impacts the health\, safety\, and economic security of communities\, especially those already facing systemic inequities. This session will explore climate justice as a social impact imperative\, focusing on how nonprofits can lead in building resilience and advancing equity through their missions and operations. Led by Maya Bornstein\, Program Manager at Green Building United\, the workshop will highlight lessons from the Climate Ready Capital Projects Program\, which supports community-serving nonprofits in addressing climate risks to their buildings and green spaces. Participants will learn how organizations are addressing climate risks in community-serving facilities while advancing broader goals of justice\, equity\, and sustainability\, as well as explore practical strategies for weaving climate justice into nonprofit missions\, values\, and outcomes.

SUMMARY:The AI Shift: How Generative Technologies Are Transforming Daily Life\, Work\, and Education
DESCRIPTION:Our February speaker is Betty Chandy\, Director for Technology Integration and Learning at Catalyst at Penn Graduate School of Education (GSE). Learn more about the talk below and register at https://bit.ly/SPEAK26. See you online! 🖥️ \n  \nTalk Description: Artificial intelligence is woven into our daily lives – from the maps that guide us\, to the recommendations we see while shopping\, to the systems that quietly help us make decisions. This session will begin with a grounded introduction to what AI actually is\, followed by a look at traditional machine learning systems and the ways they’ve improved everyday experiences. From there\, Betty will explore the transformative moment marked by the launch of ChatGPT and the rapid rise of generative AI and other technologies reshaping how people study\, work\, and collaborate. Betty will close with an education‑focused lens on the benefits\, risks\, and emerging challenges of AI\, and what it all means for a sector committed to social impact. \n  \nWhat you can learn during this session \n\nUnderstand how AI systems (both traditional machine learning and newer generative models) shape everyday experiences\, from navigation and online shopping to workplace and learning environments.\nDifferentiate between traditional machine learning and generative AI\, gaining clarity on how the launch of tools like ChatGPT transformed how people study\, work\, create\, and solve problems.\nIdentify key opportunities and risks of AI in education and social impact contexts\, including implications for equity\, access\, creativity\, assessment\, privacy\, and responsible use.\n\nSpeaker’s Bio: Betty Chandy\, Ed.D. is the Director for Technology Integration and Learning Design at Catalyst @ Penn GSE\, where she leads work that connects learning sciences\, online instruction\, and emerging technologies to support educators and school systems. She oversees the Virtual Online Teaching (VOLT) certificate program and the Experiences in Applied Computational Thinking (EXACT) certificate program\, which prepare teachers to design meaningful and accessible learning experiences for diverse classrooms. \nDr. Chandy is the designer and director of Pioneering AI in School Systems (PASS)\, a professional development initiative that helps district and school leaders understand how AI can be used responsibly and effectively in K–12 education. PASS is supported through partnerships with regional districts and major philanthropic funding\, including a $1 million Google.org gift\, and is guiding schools as they establish strategies for AI adoption and governance.
