Learning Objectives:

  1. Identifying structural barriers to service delivery;
  2. Recognizing the influence of racism and sexism in social policy development in urban communities; and
  3. Identifying ways to promote accountability to stakeholders by service providers.

Speaker Mikki Kendall, author of the upcoming books Hood Feminism (2019) and Comic Book History of Women’s Rights (2019), has been published in The Chicago Reader, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, and The New York Times. Ms. Kendall’s story is one of resiliency: a military veteran who lived for a time in public housing while going to college and raising her eldest son, she fought for economic justice and food security in her community, and won. Come hear her story and celebrate social work with one of the pioneering voices of “Black Twitter.”
