Lisa Coggins is a licensed clinical social worker in Connecticut currently working towards her Doctor of Clinical Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to her studies, Lisa is the clinical director for a therapeutic high school program serving students presenting with school avoidance and significant social-emotional needs. Lisa’s dissertation work centers on understanding, from a psychodynamic perspective, the experiences of school avoidant students and the school-based clinicians supporting them in high-achieving high schools.
Prior to working within the educational setting, Lisa served as a primary clinician for the Yale New Haven Hospital Child and Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Programs. Lisa also served as a medical social worker for Yale Pediatric Neurology. During her time at Yale, Lisa co-founded the Clinical Subcommittee of the Diversity Action Team and developed an internal pilot study on the integration of standardized racial, cultural, gender, and sexual orientation interviews in the systemwide ambulatory intake assessment. Lisa also participated on the Yale University Antiracism Task Force Clinical Committee, working to establish areas of focus for addressing systemic racism in psychiatry.
Lisa completed her Master of Social Work degree from Southern Connecticut State University in 2008 with a focus on clinical practice with children, adolescents, and families.
