Certificate in Health Care Innovation
The Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy in the a School of Medicine offers a Graduate Certificate in Health Care Innovation (HCI) to Master of Science in Nonprofit Leadership (NPL) students who wish to further develop health care–oriented skills and experience to build upon their NPL education.
Program Requirements
Students need a total of four courses towards the certificate:
One NPL course:
- NPLD 7920: Social Entrepreneurship
Three HCI courses, at least one of which must be:
- HCIN 6170: Leading Change in Health Care
- HCIN 6070: Translating Ideas into Outcomes
- HCIN 6160: Advancing Health Equity
- HCIN 6052: Leadership and Legal Issues in Health Care
The other HCI courses(opens in a new tab) should be complementary to the student’s studies. Students pay the SP2 per-course tuition rate and must take the courses before graduating from the NPL program. The fourth course needed for the certificate is in addition to the 10 credits required for the NPL degree.
