NPL Lunch & Learn: Successful Event Planning: Strategies for Fundraising and Volunteer Engagement

Join Scott Harkey NPL’17 and Ben Behrend C’16 for an engaging and informative workshop designed to equip attendees with essential principles of event planning tailored for fundraising and volunteer engagement. This session will cover key strategies for organizing impactful events, from initial concept development to post-event evaluation. You’ll learn how to set realistic goals, create compelling event themes, recruit and manage volunteers, and effectively market your event to attract potential donors. Scott and Ben will share best practices and real-world examples to help you navigate common challenges. Scott serves as the Director of Development for the Perelman School of Medicine where he oversees a team of major gift officers focused on raising funds in support of medical education. Ben serves as a Major Gifts Officer for Penn Engineering, and before that organized large scale undergraduate reunions and fundraising for The Penn Fund.
